A dropdown list pairs a value with the text people see: Status 1 = Clean, 2 = Dirty, or Tarped true = On, false = Off. Tickets store the value; forms, the kiosk, grids and printed tickets show the text. To use a list, make a Dropdown field on Setup → Schema and set its Choices come from to the list.
